More about Healing Through Creativity -

Picture

We open our hearts... to support those who are making their way through the various stages of recovery from physical and psychological trauma.  The event is inspired by the need in the community to support survivors and to seek additional resources and contacts to help in recovery.  Once aware of supportive resources, individuals may follow up with any of the fine contacts from this event for more in-depth help, education and support.  You know what you would give to keep just one person from suffering.  Healing through Creativity promises to be a life changing experience.

Positive focused expressions -

Healing through Creativity features positive-focused expressions from trauma survivors to promote understanding.  Survivors and supporters share the fun and excitement of creativity without fears of judgment or undeserved guilt and shame.  The event promotes community awareness about the needs of survivors of trauma to the body, mind and spirit.  Workshops, speakers and displays promote prevention of assault and abuse.  Healing through Creativity helps to end silence, feelings of abandonment and undeserved guilt often felt by survivors.  The event recognizes organizations that educate, serve and protect the community.

Healing Through Creativity Beginnings -

Healing through Creativity July 2006 was a breakthrough event for all survivors and has continued through today.  HTC was born on April 15, 2005 in Hurricane, WV and it took over a year of hard work to organize, plan and implement the initial Festival at the Museum in the Community for the entire month of July 2006.  HTC was supported strongly by the Domestic Violence Counseling Center or Charleston, WV.  The heart and life of HTC comes from all of the survivors and supporters who volunteer themselves to give the opportunity to share to all survivors of any trauma.  The HTC Festival was held in Hurricane, WV again in 2007, in Institute, WV in 2008, in Bramwell, WV and Roanoke, Va. in 2009 and 2010, and in Bramwell, WV in 2011.  Healing through Creativity is returning for the 7th Annual event in 2012 - check back at this site for regular updates.  Entry to the Festival, its workshops, speakers and performances is free.

All survivors and supporters of survivors of any trauma are invited to share every creative media.
Artistic works include: creative writing, poetry, painting, music, drama, dance and other works.  See workshops, hear speakers and develop your own creative talents.
